Gran Alacant Market - History

On 27th November 2014 the new location for the Gran Alacant weekly Market opened for business. Previously in Calle Canarias in Gran Alacant, the new location for the Gran Alacant market was long awaited as it is a proper purpose built trading area, rather than the street market it had been for many years.

Everyone loves a market! And the new location for the market in Gran Alacant, named El Chato, after a late local street trader, Alejandro Molina Chato, had the inauguration on Friday 21st November 2014. 


Gran Alacant Weekly Market - Stalls

The weekly market in Gran Alacant, now covers some 12,000 sqm and has a total space for 140 stalls, of which around 25 house foodstuffs such as fresh fruit, vegetables, dried fruits, sweets, spices, olives and pickles, pastries, cheeses and roast chicken. The remainder houses a vast array of clothing, homewares, shoes, sunglasses, accessories, handbags, jewellery, paintings, carpets, pet supplies and flowers. In addition, the weekly market in Gran Alacant has 100 parking spaces as well as 4 pedestrian entrances, plus several cafes, a roast chicken stall and a churreria.

The Gran Alacant Weekly market is open every Thursday from 09.00 - 14.00


Gran Alacant Market - Location

Gran Alacant's very own weekly market is sitauted at the top of Avenida Escandanavia (just past Altomar 2) in Upper Gran Alacant and can be reached by either the Gran Alacant Tourist Train (Stop 11 is the nearest stop for the Gran Alacant Market) or the Gran Alacant circular bus service.
