Agost

Agost, a small village around 20km north west of Alicante has a long history of pottery manufacture and is still one of the best places in the Alicante region to buy pottery and ceramic ware. This town makes more earthenware botijos than any other town in Spain. The authentic souvenir is the Botijo de Novia, which is a type of earthenware water jug.

Agost

Due to its relative distance from the Mediterranean Sea, Agost has not been affected by the mass tourism that those nearer the coast have experienced, and has therefore maintained its local character. Worth a visit to wander around a traditional Spanish town, in the hills and to visit the Pottery museum, before taking in a lazy tapas lunch in one of the squares.
